Team PKS Brings Home the Gold

The team is back home from a long week at the 2010 IKF Sprint Nationals in Willow Springs, California.  Glenn and his team had a great event bringing home five Screaming Eagles (fast time) and four Duffy's (wins).  Zane Smith started the week with an Eagle and Duffy in KPV1 then went on to earn a second Eagle on Wednesday.  A third Eagle and another Duffy greeted Zane on Friday with another KPV win. Kolby Araki earned an Eagle and Duffy on Wednesday in Sr. PRD then put together the drive of his life to win a Duffy in KPV4 on Saturday earning his expert plates.  Jason Hannegan beat the field by 1/1000 second to earn an Eagle in PRD Junior.   Glenn was very happy with the results but more importantly, was appreciative for all the professionalism and great attitudes that the entire team expressed all week.  Glenn would like to thank IKF, Willow Springs Raceway, TiMi Promotions, Race Media Group and all the volunteers for a great National event.

Zane Smith and Kolby Araki Score at the Nationals

Zane Smith and Kolby Araki both competing at the IKF Nationals at Willow Springs, California earned a lot of gold tonight.  Zane put both his Yamaha Rookie Sportsman and KPV1 karts on the pole to take two Screaming Eagles home and Kolby put his Topkart on the pole in the Senior PRD class.  Zane would end up third in KPV after a rough start in Rookie Sportsman but came back out in his KPV1 Powered Topkart and drove away from the field winning by several seconds earning himself one of the little men they call the Duffy.  Kolby had a three for three night qualifying number 1, then winning the heat race and then starting on the front row of the main.  Kolby had a rough start and came out of lap one in P4 but began driving though the karts to move his way into P2.  By this time the leader, Brett Felkins was about 15 karts ahead and moving fast.  Kolby picked away at the lead until about lap 12 where he caught Felkins and passed for the lead.  Felkins quickly fell back with carb troubles and Kolby cruised to a National win earning himself a Duffy.

PKS Kart Supplies is located in Fresno, California just east of the Fresno - Yosemite Airport.  Nob and Terrie Araki purchased PKS in 1983 and have been in the karting business since the late 1950’s. In 2003, middle son, Glenn took over as owner and operator of PKS and has quickly become one of the largest kart shops in the Western United States.

PKS Kart Supplies is now a full service kart shop with engine services, kart products and customer support.  Team PKS can be found at most karting events throughout the United States. Stop by and see what’s new in karting.

The Araki Family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, support, flowers, food, and gifts during the past couple of weeks.  Nob will certainly be missed by the racing community and the huge support and attendance at his memorial service confirms just that.   Thanks again.
